Workshop Replay:

How to Paint an Egret in Flight

Level of Difficulty: Beginner

Drawing: We will draw the composition at the start of the workshop.

Workspace: Have everything set up so that you are ready to draw and paint. I will paint on 10"x 8" 300 lb hot press Arches watercolor paper. You can choose to make your painting any size you want, and can also paint on 140 lb, but if you choose 140 lb you'll want to stretch it beforehand so it won't warp or wrinkle on you. (This painting will require a lot of wet layers!)

Colors I plan to use:

• Yellow Ochre
• Alizarin Crimson
• Burnt Sienna
• Sepia
• Payne's Gray

I use Winsor & Newton watercolor paints, but you don't have too. You can substitute the colors above for similar colors in your palette. They don't have to be the same colors.

Tools & Materials:

• Paper for sketching
• Tracing Paper (optional)
• Pencil & eraser
• Masking Fluid (optional)
• Mop brush
• Round brushes (I plan to use size: 2, 4, 6, 10)
• Scrap Paper
• Paper towels
• Hair dryer (optional)
  
  

Additional Recommendations: You may want to have a small glass available if your palette isn't large enough to mix enough paint for the background. (I will show you how to mix a large amount of paint in this workshop.)
